Battery storage installation for Younicos

Younicos AG, Berlin, develops and plans large turnkey battery systems for storing electrical energy. This storage facility is intended to provide positive and negative primary control energy.

A battery storage system with supply/charging capacity of 5 MW_el was built by Younicos at their site in Schwerin. BLS Energieplan GmbH provided planning management including construction supervision for electric peripherals and connection to the grid of the pre-supplier.

• Connection to the medium voltage grid; due to capacity of 5 MW, close to high voltage connection
• internal cabling of the battery system and converter
• Three-winding transformer for converter connection to the medium voltage grid
• Medium voltage switch gear (for integration of battery blocks/transformers and connection to the grid operator's (VNB) network
• Coordination with the grid operator
• Building planning preliminary work
