At its site in Berlin, GE Power Conversion constructed a hybrid power plant consisting of a CHP plant, a PV system and battery storage as a marketing showcase for combined investments in PV generators and CHP units with priority given to production facilities.
The hybrid system consists of a PV generator with output of 621 kW peak and a CHP plant with a GE Jenbacher engine with electric output of 400 kWel and thermal capacity of 490 kWtherm. A thermal buffer (25 m³) was installed as an additional component. The hybrid system is complemented by a battery system (valve-regulated lead acid batteries) with 100 kWh storage capacity.
